Olivier Normand was incredible. He made the long naturalistic monologues feel easy and natural. The visual effects and puppets were as stunning and fresh as they were back in 2000. Truly impressive.

The first time around I found the pace and structure frustrating. This time I appreciated the meditative feel and how the non-linear glimpses of the brothers’ lives felt like phases of the moon. Incomplete, shadowed parts of the whole.

We got lucky this year to have the first snow arrive while all the leaves were still in peak fall colours.
