Eugen Weber’s brilliant book “Apocalypses” points out that humanity has invented a series of different ends of the world 4 more than 2,000 years b/c the end of the world is really emotionally satisfying: you get to sit back & do nothing. Doomerism isn’t smart or maverick, it’s cowardly & predictable
