7/ I asked for advice for #Recoding municipalities. @pahlkadot.bsky.social suggests specialized Large Language Models to analyze legal ordinances and codes to identify redundancies and propose streamlining. I agree.

6/ Question from audience: can the civilian service learn from military's ability to recruit people from communities not typically talent-rich, yet train and give great responsibility to high success. Pahlka: yes, 1st step is being able to recruit, which civil service doesn't.

5/ Pahlka: a big problem in the legislatures (national and states) are bills that are just proposed for attention by politicians seeking fame, but not actually able to reform the system or even able to get passed. Example: "Uber for kids" bills that didn't actually fix problem and hurt foster kids.

4/ Pahlka: we need to clean up before we start rebuilding after this breakdown of government under Trump. The former system was not working for the people, so don't try to recreate or build on top of it.

3/ Pahlka: Every think tank should have a state capacity team to enhance their policies through that framework. Needs to get political power and funding behind Abundance (specifically for state capacity) reforms. She has started up a fund: www.recodingamerica.fund/about
