King says he didn't cave and immediately describes himself caving to a bully. SNAP funds had already been approved and were being illegally withheld. A promise of a vote on healthcare subsidies amounts to nothing. King is failing to meet the moment and offering feeble excuses.

I think the likely reason is that Democrats are criticizing him on healthcare -- he's signaling/pretending that he has a magical fix for it.
