Sounds weird to write it but if Slot hadn't done so well last season and Liverpool hadn't won the league by such a margin he'd be getting much more leeway this. The difficult rebuild was always going to be required at some point.

those further down the chain - the young, single parents, families on benefits etc. A caller on 5Live just now, fuming about the 'mansion tax'. All the old tropes getting a run out: worked hard all her life, no handouts, strived, which (if true) well done. But there was also an unmistakeable tone>>
