i.e. fptp multiparty systems entrenching minority rule, which is bad, but it’s not bad because it is democratic. It’s a system design issue.

I am partial to the idea that the only worse thing that majority government is minority government. Relatedly, while I don’t trust « the masses » to care for me and my friends, I believe that a lot of our apprehensions about democracy writ large are about minority subversions of majority rule.

Right, I think the twist for me is that I’m not afraid of falling so much as I am afraid of dying. When it gets to the point where I feel like a fall would probably kill me, that’s where alternative brain comes in.

Because life is funny most of my closest friends took up climbing during the pandemic (it was one of the only things allowed in Québec) and I tagged along.

I'm a very strong climber until the second clip, then the conviction that I am FOR SURE about to die takes over.

Most of the likes for this post being from queer people is not *bad* but I wish these issues resonated more with cis and straight people. This is about us as much as it is about other people.

I used the bit in a talk where I was trying to make the point that "induced demand" is not bad intrinsically - I show a modest condo with a high price and then decrease it slide by slide, asking people at which point they'd consider living there.
