I don't consider myself an "artist" but I'm trying to push myself a little to do the art for my own game. I'm having fun with it so far and I feel like I'm improving.

“Number sign” further muddying the waters. There was a “[hashtag] 1 reason why” campaign like 15 years ago and I kept thinking it was “number 1 reason why”

Even among games that aren’t chasing viral trends, there are so many that do things the “good way” in terms of how they look, feel, and play that they start to all feel the same. When I glance at an indie game I’d prefer it doesn’t call to mind 10 other similar ones.

I think it’s becoming a “discourse” at this point, which is rubbing me the wrong way because we really don’t know much about how prevalent this stuff will be and whether it adds or detracts from the game. Seems wise to wait for reviews.

To me it seems to not even be a "fingers crossed" thing. Seems obvious he just is one of those. Especially after watching a video preview and seeing how little time you actually spend with him even in that early part of the game.

I was genuinely shocked when I realized this, for what it's worth. For some reason I thought only lead/director level people made that much.

Full time artists and designers at many AAA studios (though notably not ALL, including some of the top employers), with a few years under their belts, might expect to make somewhere in this average ballpark. Programmers can easily make more. Still feels a bit high, but yeah.

Even during the SNES era, I remember thinking this game looked kinda weird and a bit ugly. Like even the way Mario looks doesn't look that much like any art of Mario. I felt All-Stars looked much better at the time. Mind you this was my first game ever and I still consider it a GOAT contender.

Yeah, “the United States might take our country by force” was a real fear in Canada earlier this year. But at the same time… LA is literally going through what Canadians feared. And yet… it’s still annoying to see LA residents act like Canada wasn’t being terrorized in a different way this year.

He didn’t know all he was going to get was that sign, so he tried to use it however he could (telling the bullies to do as it said) as a last ditch effort. It’s turned toward the audience so that we understand the joke, but I assume the joke was written as if they could see it.
