The most exciting score in hockey...a 1-0 shootout win

That was the 242nd game in NHL history that ended in a 0-0 score after overtime, and the second time it's happened at UBS Arena

I lied about being a translator. Just straight up bullshit! But I turned out to be pretty good at it. And then the translation industry was ruined by AI, oops

Before that I worked in the archives of a newspaper, thanks to nepotism. But even 25 years ago, that job could have been done by a computer

Today's Movie I've Never Seen Before™️ is: First Knight

I've seen Rob Roy and Braveheart hundreds of times, which also came out that year. I guess I thought First Knight was a boring romance instead of a cool action movie...and it turns out I was right, it was pretty boring

Some more weird Old French in the assizes of Jerusalem: if a falcon escapes and someone finds it, the owner of the falcon "est tenus...de rendre a celuy qui laura troue son vin"

The owner has to give wine to the person who found it? His wine? The bird's wine?!

I like when we get to ask "what year does this guy think it is?"

This scribe finished this book on February 12, 1436. But he was on Cyprus, which used the Venetian calendar, where the new year started on March 1. So if we convert to a year starting on January 1, it was actually 1437.

I could spend the rest of my life fiddling with this burgess assizes of Jerusalem/Cyprus project. I just have to put it all together and press send...

So it's done! I finally sent it off to the acquisitions editor. I'm sure it'll be awhile until it actually appears, but it's done, it's out there

What stupid thing is wrong with me now?

Somehow I strained my quad muscle?! It hurts so much I wanna throw up, but it's still better than throwing my back out

Hmm, I should go back and note where this text quotes or alludes to the Bible

*sees that this has already been done*

The new thing in my daughter's class is not to say "six seven" out loud anymore, but just to do the six seven gesture silently and randomly

This Old French law about when marriages can't take place includes "careme prenant des moines". "Careme" comes from "quadragesima", the 40 days of Lent, and "careme prenant" is the first Tuesday, so, Mardi Gras, simple enough. But what's this about "des moines"? Does it mean monks?

I have a Weird Mole™️, which seems like the sort of thing you should get checked out, so I went to the dermatologist. But apparently it's perfectly normal, sometimes a mole just grows its own second mole. Otherwise my skin is "perfectly healthy" 😎

The Simpsons episode that has aged the worst may be the one where Homer changes his name to Max Power and starts hanging around the rich and powerful in Springfield, who all turn out to be liberal activists

Everyone keeps talking about how this Jays team doesn't live up to the 1992 and 1993 teams, but this forgets the other tough losses along the way - 1985, 1987, 1989, 1991, when they weren't quite good enough to get to the World Series, or even the ALCS. This time they're just getting started!

My son dressed up as a jackalope for Halloween, and he kept telling people he was a cryptid. I told him there's a remote chance that people will know what a jackalope is, but it's much less likely that they'll know the word "cryptid." He was kind of disappointed, because cryptids are fun and cool

I don't think I've ever been able to physically feel my blood pressure rise like that before. It took me a couple of hours to calm down and fall asleep! Usually I'll put the sports highlights shows on as background noise in the morning but I can't do it today
