So I have moved to more paper. My use of the Chromebook is more about providing information and doing quick check-ins. I don’t have a lot of research on the topic, but I know that I want my students to be able to think for themselves.

I don’t teach a disadvantaged community. This is a fairly middle class community. Very diverse, not a lot of behavior issues. In those ways, it makes my job less difficult.

And the tech makes it easier to be lazy and just google the answer and copy the AI response. Which means I spend a lot of time marking assignments incomplete for being AI generated.

And so have we as educators. I know that in the US, math and reading are the only subjects that really get tested. Fine, but it ignores the importance of application. Tech makes it easier for us to find answers, but applying it? That requires the user to do a little bit more work.

That’s about where the positives end. The overwhelming difference I have seen is a lack of interest in learning anything because they can just access all the information online. Even with restrictions, students are less engaged.

Quizzes and class work are easily done, which is another time saver, which leaves more time for projects and fun group activities.

The amount of time saved by students having access to the information I am sharing with them is a huge time saver. Students who miss time are able to stay caught up. Lessons are easy to implement, and sharing slides with my students means less lecture time for me.

It’s not just immigrants. All people of color, all women, anyone considered disadvantaged is at risk without 14th Amendment protections

Or the pilots who fired. I hate to say it, but the only way this stops in the moment is for people to be held accountable for following illegal orders.

The problem here is that it’s a distinct possibility that he deliberately sent this message as a “fuck you” to all of us because there are no consequences for their horrific actions

You are going to shout something at him in the very near future and you will gasp at the sound of your father’s voice
