I don't even necessarily think we should move off bugs.r-l.org for development, just that if we wanted to know what the community position was, that discussion on bugs.r-l.org is likely an unsatisfactory method for reach.

I'm likley not the only one. Maybe it's different if you're a Ruby maintainer.

But how many people are like me, and have ideas to improve, but are not looking to go to another service to create an "issue".

Anyways, if I think of an organization to advocate for Ruby, maybe code is lower priority.

For engagement initially, I had envisioned at least a survey of some sort. High level, related to how people use Ruby, what works for them, what isn't.

For bugs.r-l.org, the experience feels sterile. I've been writing Ruby since 2005/2006 and I don't even remember if I have a bugs.r-l.org account.

I actually feel like you've hit on exactly the first step. Engage with the community. How can things be improved? Maybe the first use of extra $$ isn't paying for code, but paying to engage with the community on a field that's not bugs.r-l.org.

Absolutely not. Adrian is the worst. 😎

You met up with Adrian? That’s awesome!

Pascal's a rebel, so I totally get it. 😎

Phew. :)

Ohh. Grilled chicken? That makes sense.

There seems to be an ongoing removal of grilled chicken from menus.

Are we unique in our grilled snack wraps? Now I'm questioning if I'm missing out on something.

Oh no! What did I say? 😅

Nice! I wondered where you were heading.

I've been loving it! I'm revisiting after a ~ 10 year break. Last time around, I went super deep into Ecto and ended up getting burned out. The resources weren't there at the time.

Much more successful this time around.

I shipped 1 Elixir/Phoenix app last year and I'll ship 4 this year.

12 is prerelease right? Are you running nightly? How are you managing it?

Two benefits I noticed after attending Rails World last year: a different, diverse group of interesting people for which I don't normally socially overlap with, and a (seemingly) easier forging of friendships with those people.

Very cool Andrea!

Oh! Awfully nice of him. Let's take it to DM.

Hah! I *also* requested Toronto from Jim.

Biggest for me is accessible modals and drawers, followed by the ability to layer requests to start a separate journey. I haven’t seen these recreated in other ecosystems and accessible modals alone is a sizeable effort.

I've been musing about how I could pair Hotwire with Unpoly (my favourite) but I wonder what the pairing of Datastar and Unpoly would look like. Specifically, SSE/morphing.
August 4, 2025 at 5:38 PM
What do you think of Datastar?
