A lone Orca puts on a nice little show following Victoria’s Dallas Road probably no more than 100 yards from shore this morning #yyj #victoriabc

👍Antonov—>Alouette is my main experience and concern personally. Might also be possible to help it by eliminating the last parking spot closest to the intersection or maybe adding one of these on the other side of the road?

5000+ hectare “Bear Gulch Fire” across the Salish Sea is a prominent part of the Victoria, BC horizon tonight and a reminder that fires know no borders #yyj #victoriabc

Left my jaw behind on the Walmart floor yesterday after taking this one

Yup and it’s a little misleading to say it’s American owned. Amongst that ownership will be proud Canadians like me with shares bought through the Toronto Stock Exchange

@smartvoting.ca has a different take on that riding. I’m not convinced the national Liberal and NDP trends will flow through quite as much here as their algo/dats are suggesting but I don’t think May is a shoe in either
April 5, 2025 at 2:29 PM
FWIW this is what @smartvoting.ca is showing. No idea how accurate. They’ve got Conservatives up quite a bit in Cowichan-Malahat-Langford, Liberals in Victoria, 3-way toss up in Esquimalt-Sooke. First Fed election since moving here, split dynamic is fascinating & a little scary at the same time

Makes sense. Will be interesting to see how strategic they want to be. Looking at 2021 for my riding as an example, a real case that statistically at least Liberals are better off staying out of it. But then have to answer the criticism of whether they’re a national party I suppose

Nike stock got that ‘liberation’ feeling this morning after they released earnings and forward guidance (tariff impact) 😬
March 21, 2025 at 2:45 PM
Eg here’s 2021. Is it realistic to expect Liberals to raid enough of those NDP votes without just making it easier for Conservatives. Granted a lot of population growth as a variable. Don’t mean to undercut your point, which prob works for most ridings but outliers like this could be the difference!

For the person that had a question about net neutral, here’s ChatGPT explaining better than I can:

Was right place & time when the 1st ship of ‘24 came into port at Victoria in April

Ogden Point was in the news last week when it was announced that 22.5M is earmarked from the Federal Gov for shore power upgrades

A few of my favourites from Hawaii Mars' last flight+landing at Victoria this summer. Cell phones have come a long way, but some moments are still worth lugging the gear out for!
She's now on display at the BC Aviation Museum in all of her 200-ft-wingspan glory #VictoriaBC #VancouverIsland #yyj

Thx, you must have quite the art collection!!
This one was right place & time. I'd started to walk away after spending ~an hour. Looked over my shoulder and up they swam.
Originally from Manitoba, not far from Boissevain and its claim to fame ‘Tommy the Turtle.’ Was great to find them out here too!

A Painted Turtle shares a place in the sun with wee ones of another kind on a past bright Spring afternoon at Langford Lake. All grown up now, they prob live a simpler life than our neighbourhood pond ducks that are working with whatever open water they can find until temps turn #VictoriaBC #yyj

Was interesting watching the setup on radar that gave us our snow in Langford that’s still hanging around. Stretched from past Nanaimo down to the Southern tip around Langford. Even Colwood by Royal Bay seems to have gotten quite a bit less. This was a few days ago, slowly giving in to the sun!

One more from the ice files... Kevin Koe delivers final shot of the Tim Hortons Brier a few years back before taking home the shiny hardware in the background. Was fortunate to have photo access for the event to see what the at-the-time new 70-200mm lens had in it #curling #tamron #nikon

While ice is on the brain, throwback to when the lens had the good fortune of sharing event-level with a pair at least as good as anyone at making the best of it 😉

Obligatory ‘it’s a lil chilly in Vic this week’ shot. Just before we moved here I made a point of standing in the the road into the wind on a -40 prairie day to burn it into the memory in case I ever fell into the trap of griping about the weather in this beautiful place #VictoriaBC #VancouverIsland

360 days of grass, but I’ll be damned if the other five aren’t beautiful in their own right #victoriabc #vancouverisland

After a couple years of staring up at big beautiful Mount Wells right behind our neighborhood, I was in need of a bit more of a challenge and finally gave it a go. As much as pup seems ready for lap 2, thinking same time next wk after these prev under-used legs take a few days to bounce back😁 #yyj
