You will bring project management skills with a warm, empathetic and relational approach.

Strong analytical skills, including understanding research design strengths and weaknesses and analytic use of evidence in framing a debate, and experience with impact approaches are essential.

As Research Portfolio Lead, you will apply your research management experience to support high-quality evidence building and a critical, rigorous and relational approach to research culture.

We explore well-known risks (for example, AI companions and people’s mental health), but our research also covers risks that have not been widely discussed, despite potential for significant harm.

Assistants could bring significant economic and societal benefits. But poorly managed or unmanaged diffusion of Assistants could pose several challenges.

These include significant privacy and security risks, distortion of markets and disempowerment of consumers, and cognitive and social deskilling.

Our research also highlights the role impacted communities can have in helping understanding of technologies' benefits and risks, and in governance.

Workshop participants raised concerns not found in the literature or interviews.

These case studies, one public-facing and the other business-based, demonstrate that regulation needs to address the increasingly specialised nature of immersive technology use cases.

It is important to consider the:

You may have direct experience in areas like machine learning, data science or computation, but it’s not a requirement.

We are looking for candidates with the following qualities:

🔴 Experience managing multidisciplinary research teams with accountability, care and respect.
🔴 Technical knowledge (e.g. AI, infrastructure, methods and development practices) and able to translate technical concepts for lay audiences.
