Wow! Astronomers from MIT have discovered a #planet that's crumbling to pieces. It loses a Mount Everest's worth of material with every orbit around its star. Yesterday, EarthSky interviewed the study's lead author, Marc Hon of MIT. #exoplanets ☄️🔭

#Spacerocks tend to be rich in water, carbon and organic compounds. Yet the #meteorites that have made it to Earth are not. Why? A new study found that space rocks traveling near the sun lose much of their carbon material before they even make it to Earth. ☄️🌎🔭

Tonight and tomorrow night, many will be asking: “What’s that bright #star by the #moon?” But it’s not a star. It's the planet #Venus, the brightest planet we see from Earth. 🌒🌟

Coronagraphs block the sun’s glare with a disk called an occulter. But for ESA’s new #Proba3 mission, the occulter will be on a separate satellite, forming the largest-ever #coronagraph. ☀️🛰️

Hey night owls! Look for the moon close to Mars and the faint Beehive star cluster late tonight. Also nearby will be the twin stars of Gemini: Castor and Pollux. They’ll be visible through dawn:
