I am here to complain about the Toronto Maple Leafs and societal decline
I'll just talk about the sopranos
November 30, 2025 at 2:31 AM
I had no idea!
November 30, 2025 at 1:20 AM
No, I am not watching the Leafs
November 30, 2025 at 1:03 AM
if nothing else the end of the Expectations Era feels more honest
November 28, 2025 at 10:34 PM
i love how this team's just stone-cold dogshit
November 28, 2025 at 10:24 PM
gets harder and harder to just watch the team, both in terms of quality and accessibility
November 28, 2025 at 10:16 PM
i'm just trying to ease out of work, man. i'm not ready to be mad while the team gets spun around the d-zone like a fart in a blender
November 28, 2025 at 10:14 PM
Working in the industry I can promise it's a real thing. Just haven't seen much evidence people are reacting to it politically
November 28, 2025 at 6:42 PM
It's just not a direct enough connection. Even weather disasters being more frequent doesn't really register in "I'm willing to be inconvenienced to somewhat reduce the chance of this."
November 28, 2025 at 6:12 PM
True enough
November 28, 2025 at 5:01 PM
Maybe I'm underestimating the ultimate impact but my suspicion is this fades

I think the bubbling effect of the internet is that squabbles between factions of the same group get mistaken for divides in the electorate
November 28, 2025 at 4:38 PM
You can wish it were otherwise but I don't see any evidence
November 28, 2025 at 4:33 PM
this is definitely not solipsism
November 27, 2025 at 11:26 PM
yeah the election is unlikely to be decided by disproportionately urban Twitter refugees on the left flank of the NDP, but...
November 27, 2025 at 11:19 PM
i get all the left-wing angst but i have to say the polling suggests Carney's doing fine politically so far
November 27, 2025 at 11:11 PM
Lol c'mon now
November 27, 2025 at 3:59 PM
I recognize the Stones were the killer live act at their peak but when you listen to the records it's hard to understand how "Beatles or Stones" was even a question
November 27, 2025 at 3:47 PM
But in fairness: Octopus Garden is kind of a bop

McCartney is probably the greatest melodicist in the history of Western pop music but he benefitted from Lennon being a witty weirdo who could counteract his tendency to schmaltz. Harrison was a talented but not revolutionary guy who attained flashes of greatness by exposure to it
