Friends! Enemies! It's been a while since my last newsletter, and I would like to share my recent adventures, including a philosophy x art conference, an AR installation, and the acquisition of my audio work on vinyl, The Compositor/Composing, by

Tomorrow at 11h, Blunderen festival opens in Bunde, near Maastricht. I will give a talk and a workshop revolving around the Carboniferous era, and you can visit my AR installation (filmed below on The Plot, a regenerating little forest in The Netherlands).

In the EU? Please take a moment to sign this petition. Because what kind of species are we, allowing this ruthless planetary pillaging to continue? Destroying so many nonhuman cohabitants’ lives and habitats? We must be mad, right?

Hallo! This short text is written out of frustration with the misunderstandings about what it means to have a digital art practice in the context of the traditional arts. The situation is based on my observations in Belgium. Allow me to explain:

Some bronze age stops in our Sweden road trip up north: drawings that were ‘in use’ between 6,000 and 1,000 years ago - near the magnificent Flatruet (broken arrow points nearby suggest the drawings were shot at), and a beautiful stone ship (apprx. 4,000 years old) near Strömstad.

Meanwhile, in Cannes, a @tezos.com 5x5 projection with my Tools (v004) for @digitalcoleman.art ‘s curation. Filmed by @aleksandra.art - sent by @ganbrood.bsky.social Looks fantastic like this, yay!

Cancelled OpenAI subscription today. I explored it as an aid for my thesis for a year, but over the last six months it became increasingly difficult to work with: sometimes it was excellent, but often it just went off rail.

& You don’t want that level of unpredictability in your military, right?

Preparing for a studio visit tomorrow AND the presentation of the virtual sculpture Tools (v004) at the Flemish Royal Academy for Science and the Arts in Brussels next week.

I do seem to accumulate a lot of equipment, I noticed. I buy used mostly, and repurpose them for art. Artistic refurbishing!

Hive mind of the interwebs! Can anyone tell me something about this vessel I found in an Antwerp thrift shop? It looks old, but I can’t find similar shapes to compare.

(I have a thing for old, basic pottery, so couldn’t resist taking this one home 😀)

I am so proud to have my virtual 3d sculpture ‘Tools (v003)’ be included in the Museum of Stone Tools, an initiative by prof. Mark Moore of the University of New England.

The Contemporary Art category also includes a digitally sharpened chert by Dov Ganchrow.

Hey kids! Check out my totally revamped website! I tried to keep it as lean as possible, but could not resist turning the landing page into a circus, with all the browser-based fun and what not. It even has a little shop!

🔔❕ Recommendation! ‘Det Digit’ (Netherlands, 1935-2024) was a pioneer in digital fabulation, traveling across the world (and to Mars) through messageboards and self-built websites. Working on the artworld’s sideline, her work was finally recognised with this survey:
