This expands considerably when viewing wards and municipalities where the five "Democratic" candidates and the three "Democratic/Republican" candidates finished in the top eight. It numbers 141 of 161 locations, with only Springdale Twp and Trafford appearing on the top five D map but not this one.

It's a different story for the candidates listed as "Democratic". 92 out of 161 wards and municipalities gave the five "Democratic" candidates the most votes, most prominently in almost all of Pittsburgh and the suburbs due east.

There were even fewer municipalities where the five candidates listed as "Republican" and the three listed as "Democratic/Republican" were in the top eight: Forward, Frazer, and South Versailles. Every other ward and municipality had at least one listed "Democrat" in the top eight.

The dominant showing by the Democrats can be seen by showing those areas where the top five candidates were those listed as "Republican". This numbered six: Fawn, Forward, Frazer, Lincoln, South Versailles, and West Elizabeth, clustered in the far NE or far SE of the county.

This map shows which wards and municipalities had the three "Democratic/Republican" candidates as the three with the most votes. There are only five (out of 161): Bell Acres, Collier, Edgeworth, Franklin Park, and Kilbuck.

One theme of the recent election was that, other than Democratic dominance, candidates who cross-filed with both major parties tended to be hurt in the results, exemplified by the Court of Common Pleas results where the three candidates listed with both parties finished behind all Democrats.

It's Map Time!

Here is a map of Allegheny County showing which Court of Common Pleas candidate won in each municipality or, for Pittsburgh, each city ward.

PA election law stipulates that election districts ideally contain between 100 and 1,200 registered voters. McKeesport Ward 1 has 13 and North Fayette District 5 has 3,269.

This map shows how voters in Allegheny County who were registered in July 2020 and November 2024 moved during that time period. Areas in red show a net out-migration while areas in green show a net in-migration. This only includes voters who were registered in Allegheny County in both years.

Between the 2024 general election and 2025 primary, voters tended to move to Mt. Lebanon from Pittsburgh's Ward 19, Carnegie, Bethel Park and others, while voters tended to leave Mt. Lebanon for Scott, Upper St. Clair, and South Fayette, among other places.

Dennis Very finished 22nd in the county, and 22nd or close to it in almost all areas south of the Ohio and Allegheny rivers. North of that, though, he did much better, but rarely in the top eight.
June 20, 2025 at 1:51 AM
Jackie Obara was very strong in Elizabeth Twp, Forward, and the surrounding areas, but didn't finish as strongly beyond.
June 20, 2025 at 1:48 AM
Elizabeth Hughes did quite well in Turtle Creek and areas like southern Monroeville and North Braddock, plus she had decent support in eastern suburban areas between the rivers.
June 20, 2025 at 1:45 AM
Mike Sullivan's results were similar to Wheatley's, though somewhat less concentrated in Mt. Lebanon.
June 20, 2025 at 1:43 AM
Hilary Wheatley did relatively well in Mt. Lebanon and some surrounding areas.
June 20, 2025 at 1:41 AM
Craig Stephens did very well in Scott, Collier, Green Tree, and some surrounding areas, but less so everywhere else.
June 20, 2025 at 1:41 AM
Ilan Zur did well in the 14th ward of Pittsburgh but that's it.
June 20, 2025 at 1:36 AM
Bryan Neft rarely finished in the top eight, managing to do so in portions of the South Hills and in the 14th ward, but not anywhere else.
June 20, 2025 at 1:33 AM
Sarra Terry was strongest in Ross with a good showing in West Deer, Shaler, and Kennedy, while weakest in Pittsburgh and the eastern and southern portions of the county.
June 20, 2025 at 1:32 AM
Carmen Robinson perhaps had the starkest difference between places she did well and places she did not -- very strong in the 3rd, 5th, 12th, and 13th wards, portions of the North Side, Penn Hills, McKeesport, Clairton, and the lower Mon Valley, while finishing near the bottom nearly everywhere else.
June 20, 2025 at 1:29 AM
Michele Santicola did best in Moon and the West Hills, where she is best known. She did not do well in Pittsburgh, but notably better, of generally below eighth, in the remaining suburban areas.
June 20, 2025 at 1:24 AM
Amy Mathieu's results were very similar to those of Leiggi, doing well within Pittsburgh but less so in the rest of the county. The major difference is Leiggi did decently well in the 14th ward, while Mathieu did not.
