We have a few folks in ACPE who go back to punchcards (before personal tech; we’re old!), but a bigger handful date to the VIC-20 and Commodore 64.

And then…a bunch (we’re also young!) start with ThinkPads and iMacs.

Ok gang. Let’s date ourselves with our first piece of tech.

Mine was the G3 Mac in my first marketing, advertising & PR job after university & travelling.

What a beauty!

Interesting illustration, as we all continue to debate the how and why of AI in classrooms:

“He actually likens AI to a helicopter parent looking over a student’s shoulder and helping with homework, something few educators would condone.”

Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman is on Bluesky and he’s coming in hot
Shared some hot takes with @reckless.bsky.social on Decoder this week (not all of them AGI-related!), and one of the most important: I don't think data will be a limitation on model improvement and scaling anytime soon. Why I think we still have big gains ahead ⤵️

Tech leadership is often asked to block [insert disruption]. In large districts, it happens almost daily.

This is a smart, proactive list to share with teacher and school leadership. 👏

Good list.
I’ve created my own starter pack!! It’s profoundly difficult to start as a cryptographer or engineer or programmer—then develop your presentation and political skills enough to explain tech well to policymakers/the public. Here are just a few of the people I learn from. go.bsky.app/8Ta3jza

This is a need that would have economies of scale at state or org (like ACPE). Adding to a possible think tank for May. Thanks, Björn! —rw
K12 funding for cybersecurity is so little, but yet the training to do said work costs so much. There has got to be a better way then paying $10k per training to SANS... It is just so cost prohibitive for K12.
