In other words, the Court just gave its blessing to racial profiling on a massive scale—and they did it without a full briefing or hearing and without explaining their reasoning.

The department is also one of the five county sheriff offices the ACLU of Wisconsin sued as part of a lawsuit to terminate their practice of voluntarily holding people in jail for ICE on detainers.

The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office has a history of problematic immigration policies, which includes notifying ICE every time a foreign-born person is booked into jail, regardless of their immigration status.
