I think this game has a lot of great characters and funny quirky writing. I don't really like this developer's output much so this game came as a genuine surprise. The forging weapons stuff is neat, and the game is gigantic. The postgame is robust and the soundtrack isn't bad.

56. This dang ass Snoopy game that my wife made me do all of her minigames for.

Charlie Brown kinda deserves all the bullying he gets after this one.
72. Snoopy and the Great Mystery Club
These damn kids lose everything and anything, and they keep wanting Snoopy to do their chores.

When a PERFECTLY CAPABLE Charlie Brown made the dog fetch his shoes, I knew that Charlie Brown was up to no good.

Lucy is still my clone.

Yeah, the sheer amount of boss fights do a lot of heavy lifting for making up for the lack of normal enemy variety. Helps that there's a clear focus on exploration over combat too, so I wasn't as bothered since the fodder is more part of the traversal puzzles than enemies I was meant to focus on.

Took a bit of warming up to this one, but one double jump later I can say this was one of the better search actions I've played this year. Great spritework and colors, neat traversal tools, and I dug the Rayearth-like aesthetic the protagonist has going.

Haha yeah other than dabbling in the top down ones and very briefly playing 4/5 online with friends GTA has just been a black void in my experience, and never one I've been keen to fill. I'd rather go play Read Dead 2 since I did enjoy the first one a lot.

Playing it again in big 2025 shows me how much that reception was pure lightning in a bottle of right place right time to ride the wave of "games as art" that sprung around that time. Ultimately now after playing the sequel I just feel bad for fans of the first game, lol.

This OTOH was my first time playing the sequel and jesus its the most vile case of misery porn I've ever seen lobbed at fans of their own game. Sacrificing every bit of goodwill to beat you over the head with the most basic morality cudgel, Druckmann shouldn't have a job.

Played this for my wife, who "missed" it a decade ago and appreciated having the blind spot in her knowledge filled up. I've always been pretty neutral on this one: pretty alright "zombie" game story, could understand why it got that big even if I didn't quite agree.

"Good LORD, what is happening in there?!"
"Bad writing?"
"Bad writing? At this time of year? At this time of day? In this part of the country? Localized ENTIRELY within your kitchen?! May I see it?"

I wish I didn't. Good lord, what a miserable time.
