Here is the 18th century version of the West outsourcing to China. During the Qing Dynasty, European nobles often commissioned these porcelain wares with their family crests. And they all came from the city of Guangzhou.

I sometimes wonder if, within my viewers, there are old friends who don't recognize my voice in English.

So many connections lost to time. I don't know where you are. But I really miss you.

The Du Fu Pavilion was build in 2005, in dedication to Tang dynasty poet Du Fu. Yep, 2005.

China has been building a lot of new buildings in old styles lately. And sometimes, people call it fake. It's a notion that makes me groan every time.

Buddy, it's a park. It's just a good place to hang out.

Have you heard of this movie cliché? A woman is about to go into labor. The midwife then tells the husband to go get some towels and boil some water.
Interestingly, this is a cliche in both Chinese and English movies (and plays). However, apparently, it only makes sense in a Chinese context.

Founded in the 4th Century, Linguine Temple is a 1600+ year old Buddhist temple complex with some of the most impressive Buddhist statues I've ever seen.
It's a practicing temple, too. Monks walk around, talking on their phones, watching soccer matches, playing Genshin Impact. It's the real deal.

Since time immemorial, Hangzhou's West Lake has been the subject of endless paintings, poems, and folk stories. It is beloved by Chinese artists for thousands of years.

On the other hand... It's just a lake.
It's so difficult to even take a semi-interesting photo.

I had the chance to talk to one of the museum programmers yesterday, and the first thing he told me was that no AI were used in the exhibits. Everything was meticulously restored by hands.

The way he smiled proudly was endearing. It seems in China, people also agree that AI is cheap and unreliable.

Finally, Cathay theater, established in 1932, is the last and most successful of the trio, as it is located in the middle of a shopping district.
It also has a projection room for PS5 games, showing it's willingness to move with the times. The input delay must be awful, though.
