A no-go today! That rule has been thrown out of the window years ago.
I think there is plenty of great examples that both the quality of research as well as the resolution of figures in sci rep has been on a continuous decline for years. But hey 15,000 papers published in 2025!

I should note that the first author has various additional papers with comments on PubPeer, at least 4 of which were published since he joined Oxford (and include his Oxford affiliation), although he is not the first/last of any of those: pubpeer.com/search?q=%22...

They should publish a note for each article that isn't corrupted instead of a retraction note for each that is. It would save them a lot of time indeed...
