In the 1900s? Like when they were written, or in the 1970s-80s when I was reading them? Shaking head at Tiktok in general...

I am white and that's the most boring Thanksgiving dinner I've ever seen

Holly, I am serious, he has brightened So Many People's lives in those 5 years. I have a picture of him as a conquistador saved on my computer. Looking so forward to celebrating Smol Paul Day!

Another good comment. "The arts and humanities classroom really helps us understand the world. We’re comfortable being in complexity. We're comfortable with the question and not the answer. And if there's a time when there's not an answer and we don't know exactly what to do, it’s this moment."

You can do it in an actual CrockPot or on the stovetop. Label carefully for drinkers vs. non (and for the angostura bitters -- I made it once for students and had 2 of them asking me if their tongues were supposed to be going numb, which was a little alarming!)

That looks wonderfully like my "Wassail" recipe, which is from my mother's CrockPot bk of recipes that was a wedding gift in 1973. Make 2 pots, add rum (or whatever) to 1 for drinkers and not for non-drinkers. 1 tsp of angostura bitters makes it extra-rich, but some folks are allergic, so watch out!

She's just wonderful. I try to get those books for every child I'm close to. Reading them aloud to kids is a great experience.
