Something funny about the hubris of vibe coders nuking open source projects and just going "if you don't like it then fork it and do it yourself!"

I want to add onto this a picture I found online of Jonathan's english VA, Tiffany Grant, with the Jonathan The Seal plush because I think its a very important photo.

Would you give your worldly possessions for Jonathan The Seal of Kaleido Star fame?

Every time I see a sentence ended with "haha" I hear it in the same way Al does it in the MTZ cutscene from Postal 3.

Sometimes its worth it to check changelogs because you'll find some great stuff in there.

Today's #postal3 lesson. Don't create body horror by fucking up the facial flexes. We don't know how in the world Trashmasters fucked up this bad.

In other news, today I nuked the shaders for Postal 3's trees in a new way.

This came up again recently so I wanted post some additional screenshots here with some more explanation as to whats going on in the alt text.

Someone had previously converted this model, but I don't know who did it and as far as I could tell it wasn't publicly available. All that existed was this screenshot which is now on TCRF.

Finally converted and slapped textures on this. This model was in the files of the 2007 Alpha of Postal 3 but in MB (Maya Binary) format and so was stuck unconverted for a long time. Finally got a copy of Maya running in a VM and ran it through 2 conversions so it could be opened in Blender.

Today I chose to compile my maps with full lighting despite not being done with them. Today I chose violence.

A weird oddity in this build I noticed that might be present in other, older builds is that things using Postal III's plant system appear darker for some odd reason. There are two theories to this, one is the plant color is set darker in hammer. The other is that it relates to the shadercache dll.

One entirely unique and weird oddity in this build is the partial presence of the Gamamet aka Fart Gun. Originally a Russia only DLC that was eventually fully found in english in the files of the disk version, the scripts for it exist in this build allowing it to be used but its missing the icons.

I'd also like to note that despite this being StarForce, it DOES actually accept the ActControl CD Key if you backed yours up before Steam wiped them from your account when the NoDRM update came out.
December 29, 2024 at 4:24 AM
One oddity of this build is that it uses the same DRM as the Russian retail release, just translated into English. In the final release, the English release used ActControl(ACPC.exe) which was basically a slightly stripped down version of the DRM the Russian release used, StarForce(PCNSL.exe).

One of the ways we know this isn't 1.12 is the presence of the catnip speedglitch which only appears on previous versions.

Twitch recaps are neat. I always think its funny that I get chatting awards on these when I'm absolutely a lurker.

Decided to open a twitch stream up while I worked on some stuff this morning and I felt a pull to Tob's channel and when it loaded she was talking about Postal 3. How insane do I have to be to develop a 6th sense for when people are talking about Postal 3?

Made me think of this convo I had the other day about Nvidia PhysX documentation. Sometimes devs really do just be doing this.
