I saw it twice in theaters and then never thought about it again, aside from when I bought the blu ray (and then never watched it at home) haha

Yeah last Apes was good! I think my concern really is to what extent Nintendo is doing the driving creatively and what that does to the screenplay and final edit (my guess: a great extent, only negative things)

I think there was novelty in seeing a Nintendo movie in 2023 and I know a lot of people just earnestly love Mario. So I get it. my gf love Toad and is smitten with the key art they dropped today alone, haha. But for me I'm not sure there's much that'll get me hyped BUT of course I'll still see it!

Yeah super skeptical of the Zelda movie! The stakes there feel higher than the Mario ones

I can complain about these aspects of Age of Imprisonment all I want and I will continue to but then I get to start aura farming as Rauru with his big spear and all the flashy specials and tag moves and I forget about the Problems

I also maintain my criticism from Calamity that the aesthetics of BOTW/TOTK's map and items and such don't meaningfully evoke those games. Populating my map with a ton of little widgets and missions and bars to fill is like the exact opposite intent of those games

I'll use a Pikmin analogy bc we both love that: like Pikmin, each Prime game offers a different take on the core idea. 1 is most methodical and exploratory, 2 most oppressive & challenging, 3 most action-packed and grand in scope. Like Pikmin 4 did, I hope Prime 4 synthesizes all these identities
