It never fails: I log into this site after an incident of antisemitic violence, and within minutes someone on my feed is explaining that violence against Israelis is justified.

Just look at this. Are any of these baked good actually meant to be appealing or appetizing?

Gotta do this at least once before I leave, I guess.

Wait, you can't start the Hugo ceremony by saying "one category was decided by only one vote" and then announce this about the stats. Every winner (and nominee) is desperate to know if it was their category!

Tremendous thanks to LAcon V for this little fellow, their gift to the 2025 Hugo nominees and winners.
August 17, 2025 at 8:13 AM
Kudos to the Hugo ceremony organizers for just leaning into its length and providing attendees with entertainment. If only I’d brought a pen.

Angela Bassett is also beautiful in Strange Days, of course. But she has, through witchcraft or divine intervention, only gotten more beautiful in the intervening thirty years.

Tonight's movie was Strange Days, a great watch all around but also because it's an opportunity to catch Ralph Fiennes, Juliette Lewis, and Vincent D'Onofrio at the absolute peak of their beauty.

4. A subplot about a wildly neurotic, neurodivergent choreographer and the self-absorbed himbo who becomes his muse. It goes EXACTLY where you think it does.
May 12, 2025 at 8:17 PM
3. Lou de Laâge as prima ballerina Cheyenne, AKA "what if Paris Gellar was a deep voiced Frenchwoman who dances like an angel and moonlights as a militant eco-warrior." (Best part of the show bar none.)
May 12, 2025 at 8:14 PM
2. David Haig as a dissipated, high-on-life former dancer turned artistic director who is always ready with a story about getting debauched with someone famous in the 70s.

1. This is the sort of thing I would normally find depressing, but there's something kind of hilarious about the fact that Luke Kirby is now at a stage in his career where he can play Geoffrey Tenant.

Thrilled and slightly stunned by this win. Thank you to the @bsfa.bsky.social, the voters, my fellow nominees, and of course @briardenebooks.bsky.social.
