I loved Joss Whedon and Neil Gaiman. I loved Harry Potter even though I knew it was mediocre, because it reminded me of the British books I used to read as a kid, like Diana Wynn Jones. Discovering that someone you love is actually evil - that hurts! You have to bear it with courage.

Yeah, that's because of the article "devant" ("in front of"), which makes it clear that it was not an "invasion" of the church. There is, of course, a reason why the English version lacks that critical article. (Tone: agreeing with you, not trying to correct you).

Or Grant Morrison, maybe? I was just remembering that issue of *Invisibles* where we visit the past of one of the random fascist thugs whom King Mob killed, and it turned out that the guy had been a piece of shit his entire life.
