Hoping for a quieter wet season in FNQ this year in terms of rain, but water temperatures are unfortunately already very warm.

These big climatic events can be devastating, but ecosystems can recover if they have time. However, with climate change we could start to see more frequent and more intense weather, not to mention the added pressure from warm waters causing bleaching.

We did see some seagrass within the survey area, still surviving despite all of this pressure.

We are continuing to work with Traditional Owner groups in the region to survey deeper habitats from boats and we will survey again next year to understand more about how these habitats can recover.
