I feel like Continental Studios would want to get into that sweet video game adaptation business and want to bring in the experts for…

Celebrating Canada’s big elections tonight the only way I could. These photos are going to make all my fellow xennials very thirsty… (you can buy this box at Costco, fyi)

We had a pair of vultures bless our home with their new family member. We are being very protective of them as we wait for the new baby.

I’ve been practicing MTG online for the next time I play in person, and this might be the most screwed I’ve ever been in this game.

Visiting friends in LA that play @magic.wizards.com — I’ve been sucked back into it after 30 years.

It was an absolute blast! If you’ve never played, go out and buy a pre-constructed Commander deck (comic shop or Amazon) and grab 4-5 friends and give it a shot! Easy to learn! #mtg

All three of my favorite meals during this trip to #LosAngeles.

My friend @georgeous.bsky.social’s avacado toast with pickled onion.

For The Win Burger, their sweet potato fries are perfection.🍔

The pastrami sandwich from Papa’s Meat and Seafood in Burbank is a must try.

New Zealand days are only matched by their nights. This month has flown by, we only have a handful of days left… but hoping to be back soon.

Rewatching Galaxy Quest for what feels like the hundredth time while introducing it to a friend has solidified it as one of the rare movies I think is perfect. It’s a master class on ensemble writing and performance. A love letter to positive fandom and community. Never give up, never surrender.

In preparation for Oppenheimer we did a nuclear fallout double-feature of “On The Beach” and Lumet’s “Failsafe.”

Both movies brilliantly made and had a top notch cast, but of the two I’d recommend Failsafe the most. It’s a perfectly crafted high tension thriller with a Twilight Zone tone.

Kaela in her happy place. We've been visiting this bay for over 20 years now and it always feels like a homecoming. ❤️ Wellington/Seatoun

Oh no, we haven’t played Pokémon Go since 2016, but the NZ variants have sucked us back in! I miss when the world was walking around playing this game together, what a crazy summer that was.

I caught up with SICK OF MYSELF last night and it’s still stuck in my mind. It’s darkly comedic, akin to American Psycho. Is cringe horror a thing? Because this movie is the Curb Your Enthusiasm of behavior and body horror. I’m not sure it’ll be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s fascinating.

Richard Brook’s “$” (1971) - bad title, but an incredibly fun and tense heist movie starring Goldie Hawn and Warren Beatty playing two con artists ripping off other criminal’s safety deposit boxes in a bank. It has a third act that overstays its welcome a bit, but I highly recommend seeking it out.

I finally caught up with Pearl and people weren’t wrong when they called this one a masterpiece, it’s definitely my favorite Ti West movie. Mia Goth gave a next level performance and should have been given all the awards for it.

Second viewing of Poker Face and I still can’t believe how each episode manages to swirl the structure around and keep us surprised. Some of the best character arcs I’ve seen — the way it often hides its villains in plain sight is brilliant. If you haven’t given it a shot yet, doooo it.

The Pope’s Exorcist was not the movie I was expecting. It’s not your typical overly serious exorcism tale… it’s more like National Treasure meets Poltergeist or Evil Dead. Crowe plays his exorcist as a cocky scoundrel and I was into it. A solid B-movie to enjoy with your favorite beverage.

Guardians Vol 3 broke my heart and stitched it back together in the most satisfying ways. It’s a warm hug of a movie that leaves you feeling great even if things don’t go the way you expected. It’s about growth and acceptance and loving what you had while being excited for what’s next. A perfect end
