Mostly writing and editing. Some amateur sports psychology. Polaris Music Prize.
I need a deep journalism oral history about whatever this means.

Very stoked the Tricky Woo doc 'I'm Not A Man I'm A Coastline' about the Sometimes I Cry album is finally out in the world. Tricky Woo remain the rock band which I judge all other rock bands against. Here's a love letter I wrote to them in 2002. I still stand by it.

Just got served up this ad on Facebook. If there's one thing I know concert promoters are gonna love it's getting random pitches from an "AI Gig Finder" for the sort of acts who would make the conscious decision to sign up to an AI gig finder.

Very excited for our backwards Giving Tuesday promotion at work where we've decided to run a 2-for-1 ticket promo to next year's big show for the rest of the week.

Absolutely mortifying and infuriating stuff here. Great real human investigating, though.
A few months ago @thelocal.to got a promising pitch from a writer with bylines in whole bunch of reputable publications—The Cut, The Guardian, Dwell, Architectural Digest, etc. Then I started investigating. Here's a story about fabulists in journalism's AI slop era. thelocal.to/investigatin...
Investigating a Possible Scammer in Journalism’s AI Era | The Local
A suspicious pitch from a freelancer led editor Nicholas Hune-Brown to dig into their past work. By the end, four publications, including The Guardian and Dwell, had removed articles from their sites.

I AM ON THE BANDWAGON
Is the run differential big enough that I should finally emotionally invest and get back on the Blue Jays bandwagon?

There’s no reason why Digital Poodle, an 80s industrial band that’s been mostly dormant for 30 years, need to go this hard. After all, Trent Reznor is chasing EGOTs and working with Disney these days. And yet here we are.

What kind of birthday gift do you get a man who's impossible to buy for? That would be a dirty, game used, baby oil-covered man-thong from Michael Nakazawa, one of the Top 5 comedy wrestlers in the world, fished off the floor of the Rec Room by @fodderfigure.bsky.social during Mystery Wrestling #19.

I’m at the Evil Uno Mystery Wrestling show and I’ve already seen someone with a giant El Generico tattoo and someone else with a BA Johnston shirt. Feeling concerned these weirdos are my people.
