I think anyone can learn anything if they really want to. I used the Amazing SlowerDowner to learn the solo at the end of Let's Go Crazy. It took me a lot of note-by-note focus, but I got it and now I can rip that thing full speed :)

Oh, I didn't feel like I was agreeing or disagreeing. I was just syncing into my default position in this debate/discourse. I used to cover Purple Rain with my college band (90's) and learning that solo with my guitar teacher was a watershed moment for me in thinking about Prince's guitar playing.

Any guitarist who's ever sat down to learn his licks will tell you how incredible he is. I think that's why this discourse exists, guitar players saw him as a god and music consumers saw him as a pop star.

But he shredded plenty towards the end of his life, c.f. this performance, Bonnaroo, and his Super Bowl Halftime performance. His guitar prowess was always there. It's just that he did a lot of other stuff too.

This has always been a flawed critique. His guitar prowess is all over Purple Rain (title track, Let's Go Crazy) and was a central part of early performances. But he was a genius multiinstrumentalist and composer and wanted to do things other than shred.

“Metacognition” has become increasingly important to advance mental health understanding and treatment, but integration between fields has been difficult with different methods and conceptualizations. We propose bridging these perspectives under a unified hierarchical framework. (2/3)

I was partial to the Full Aussie, but everything there was ridiculous.
