I agree with this, but I don't like right now how the default is giving these systems access to everything (like your whole email, your whole calendar). I don't trust the big companies, or the governments, to not abuse that access.

You can totally point out that some aspects of AI are overhyped, you can believe that AGI is not possible, you can criticize how the companies and governments developing AI are using or being coopted by these tools. There is a lot to criticize.
But "it doesn't work and is fake" is just wrong now.

But "it doesn't work and is fake" is just wrong now.
Just bizarre to me that there is such a large market for "AI will go away on its own" at this stage. And that so few people who serve that market seem to have updated their beliefs at all in the past year, even as key tasks like coding have already started to change beyond recognition.

I feel like part of my shtick on BlueSky is to point out that yes, AI is real and it is especially important for critics to realize it is real, since we need more good criticism of AI, rather than dismissals that it is hype
