Cars are dangerous- 1k people killed and 71k injured in MI 2024.

Cars are expensive- avg cost of 10k+ per year.

Cars aren't accessible to 1/3 of the population due to age, income or disability.

Nobody is saying people can't drive in cities, but we shouldn't have to prioritize car travel.

Ann Arbor is surrounded by a sea of high income areas. The low income areas in the region exist along the corridor between Ann Arbor and Ypsi. If the region gave a shit about it, we would have much better transit services along the (state owned) corridor.

Dude this is so tedious. If you have outcome preferences just state them instead of trying to couch them (wrongly) in issues of economic accessibility.

For example:
1) Build housing to accomodate the people that want to live in the city.
2) Design the transit system to accomodate those people.

Do explain how building more housing is gatekeeping

Fine if people don't want to move into them, but heavy traffic from commuters in a densely populated place affects the quality of life there.

Why prioritize people that want access to urban amenities without the downsides as opposed to prioritizing people living in the city?
