WOULD YOU BUTT OUT???

Can't think of much else! Through my own experiences this year whether with films like The Long Walk or Love and Pop, I've been trying to get out of my comfort zone with violence at least, and Battle Royale is one of my favs after seeing it a while ago blind (albeit dubbed).

Overdoing it with "wink to the camera" type humor is annoying, I find that more in projects that have to point out they're embarrassed of being in a certain genre. More authenticity without playing it off with humor is a plus.

I know it's broad and it can't be helped, but my own disbelief tends to fade when I know it's conflict that could be fixed easily if everyone talked things out. 😭

Toku wise I find mecha sequences a bit formulaic in the Sentai I tried, but I don't feel the same about PR strangely enough.

Despite being fascinated by horror I don't view a lot of it on my own, I think it's mainly due to jumpscares. To speak more generally, I always find the trope of "protagonist falls out with their friends due to a misunderstanding and has to clear things up for the third act" tiring, ha.

"I'll kill you." still has to be one of my favorite anime moments, bar none

One I had is basically, are there any shows or movies you'd recommend for people who are looking to get out of their comfort zone with what they watch? What are some of your favorites?

(Doesn't have to be restricted to just Toku, or at least "henshin hero" stuff)
