Loving the snowy silence this morning.

I've never even eaten a turnip, but wanted to try growing something new for #Thanksgiving dinner this year. Not a bad harvest for a late summer planting, but no good ideas what to do with them. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

This is one of my favorite trail cam captures to date. Thinking about how we travel along the same trails that wind through the forest beyond my backyard, reminds me of just how fortunate I am to live so close to that other world. 💚

My grandsons holding hands during our entire hike yesterday, was also a good thing!

Finished this in one go this morning, then took my dogs for a hike where they flushed a grouse only a couple of ft from me. I was as startled by it as I am when I write a good sentence, or even better, a great paragraph. Thanks for the Gentle Writing Advice @chuckwendig.bsky.social Much appreciated.

Another year, another black bear. But this one is having to share my pears with a determined coyote. #Nature

One of the extraordinary highlights of my life was my family meeting (and hugging) this beautiful force of nature. What a loss for us all. My heart is broken. May you finally rest, in peace, and may we all continue to fight the good fight in your honor. You will be missed more than I can express. ♥️🪶

I was fortunate enough to find two chrysalises near my milkweed this summer and was able to release them both in my zinnia bed. Best part was having my grandsons witness this "super generation" take flight. 🦋

Yesterday's protest on the highway overpass was met with far fewer middle fingers and way more honking horns and thumbs up than the last one I attended. More people showed up, too. Great to see and great to be a part of. Recharges one's batteries for sure.

Shout out to the dogs in my life that are keeping me sane right now.

It's not a bag of candy, but this buck thinks my apples are just as sweet.

Don't love when I wake before four, but this is a lovely way to start my day.

The only good orange monarch.

I gave my flowerbed over to the encroaching milkweed years ago and it's paying off. 🦋
