Movies/music/miscellaneous musings. Aiming to be as uninteresting and irrelevant here as I was at the other place.
ETERNITY

HAMNET

Which film should I catch this weekend?

(I may not be able to catch up with whatever I miss.)

After ZOOTOPIA 2, went home and fired up the Criterion Channel’s stream. Caught the end of CERTIFIED COPY then a British movie I’ve never heard of called SAPPHIRE, which plays like the first half of an early LAW & ORDER episode. (This is high praise.)

So a lot of ZOOTOPIA 2 is normal kids fare, but there is a section towards the climax that is really quite affecting.
At a Regal theater for ZOOTOPIA 2 with my family. Start time was 7:20; it’s ten minutes past that time and the trailers haven’t even started yet.

Yale Football played in their first ever tournament postseason game today. They were down 42-14 halfway through the 3rd quarter and came back to win 43-42.

Watching SCROOGED with my son. So far he has no idea who Lee Majors or Robert Goulet or John Houseman or Mary Lou Retton are.

There has been a change of plans in my next (now current) free to all Reading Project post. My review of Louis CK's novel INGRAM is going up on its own (with added comments on HAROLD by Steven Wright). Please read!

Is this the dartboard method for movie releases? Next weekend: Boston, Miami, Topeka, and Reno?

Was it legal before this?

Still not a fan of PLANES, TRAINS, AND AUTOMOBILES.

Watching SHERLOCK JR with my son again and a) the score on the Criterion Channel is a bit overstated.. and b) it still might be the best movie I’ve ever seen.

In my seat for Train Dreams. 20 people for a Sunday night screening of a movie that’s been out for 2 weeks (or 3?) and is also on Netflix… fairly impressive, I think?

WTF, IMDB?

Wife is watching scenes from movie musicals on YouTube tonight. PHANTOM is even worse than I remember. Why Gerard Butler?

Rochester arthouse is playing The Beach Boys instead of their usual Sparks before the screening and it’s a 10000x improvement.

I am at a movie theater that I haven’t been to in twenty years and it looks *exactly* the same. It’s like stepping into a wormhole.

Spaceship Earth, Test Track, and the Ratatouille ride are all down at Epcot Center this morning.

Did you all know that Vince Gill is in the Eagles nowadays? I did not know this.

Watched FRANKENSTEIN last night and liked it far better than I thought I would.

Watched AFTER THE HUNT last week and hated it. It’s one of those movies where no one displays anything approaching normal human behavior, characters only motivated by making the screenwriter’s point at all times. Almost everyone miscast. (Michael Stahlberg still rocks though.)

This is where I watched BACK TO THE FUTURE and NAKED GUN 2 1/2 in original release. (Also, much later, THIRTEEN.)
