Monster Hunter Stories - This is actually my first MH game. As a 3ds game port, the visuals can be crusty and ironic to its name, the story is actually pretty bad. However, the general gameplay (ESPECIALLY the combat) is absolutely phenomenal. Excited to get into 2 and the upcoming 3.

Digimon Story: Time Stranger - Not only is this the best monster collector ever made, this might be one of the best JRPGs period. It took 8 years for them to make this and it was worth every second of waiting. The combat is on par with SMT, the story is great, the aesthetics are great IT'S PEAK

Digimon Survive - This game is a lot better than what people were saying about it. The gameplay is sparse and simplistic but the beautiful art, music, and atmosphere, as well as the engaging story and characters make up for it imo. I love how it's both serene and creepy at the same time

Mother 3 - The contrast between the cutesy art style + silly dialogue and the dark and gripping story made for such a unique and surreal experience. The rhythm attacks also add a lot of fun to the combat. This is simply one of the greatest JRPGs ever made, and easily my favorite GBA game.
