Are FreshCo and Sobeys really separate? We don’t think so. UFCW 401 is asking the Alberta Labour Relations Board to recognize them as one employer just like UFCW 1518 won in BC. Workers are stronger when we unite. Read more: gounion.ca/news/freshco...

But is that truly a deal for customers or just a smokescreen for a business model that cuts corners on workers and service while boosting corporate profits?

Union membership means higher wages, better benefits and a more secure retirement for America’s workers.

If we are going to save the middle class, we have got to expand union organizing in this country.

Albertans deserve better.

There is no moral justification for today’s extraordinary concentration of wealth.

It is distorting politics, rigging markets, and granting unprecedented power to a handful of people.

Closing our staggering wealth gap is crucial to the survival of our economy and our democracy.

One thing working people across the country can agree on: the labor movement is the one institution they trust to fight for them.

That’s why the Trump administration is so hell-bent on hurting unions. They underestimate workers’ power and solidarity.
Shuler: This is the choice working Americans have been given: chaos, or the same broken status quo.

We wanted cheaper groceries—and we got tanks in our streets.

We wanted affordable health care—and instead, 16 million Americans are about to be kicked off their coverage

On August 26, we mark Women’s Equality Day, a day that commemorates the struggle for women’s suffrage in the United States, when in 1920 the 19th Amendment was certified and women finally won the legal right to vote. While this milestone reminds us of how far we’ve come, it also highlights how much work remains to be done for full equality in every workplace and community.
