I know. I hate it so much. I'm a 43 year old autistic woman with a 19 year old autistic son. Our lives are not a worst-case scenario.
I know a lot of these folks are "autism moms," & I can't imagine growing up knowing that your mom thinks you're broken, & wishes you could be someone else entirely.

This is what I always think, too. Like vaccines don't cause autism, but what if they did? The kid would still be alive. It seems like that should be universally preferable. If they'd rather take chances with a dead child than a potentially disabled one, maybe they shouldn't have kids at all.

I still do, even in Texas, where it's hot and the vibe is generally hostile.
