3rd of December 1775. BREAKING: The Grand Union Flag was hoisted for the first time as the American flag aboard the Continental Navy ship Alfred in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Lieutenant John Paul Jones was given the honor of raising the flag. The USS Alfred was also commissioned in Philadelphia

4th of December 1775. Princess Tarakanova died of tuberculosis while imprisoned in Russia. She had been lured to Russia by agents of Catherine the Great and was held in the Peter and Paul Fortress after falsely claiming to be a contender for the Russian throne.

4th of December 1775. Henry Knox met John Andre at Fort George when Knox was on his way to Fort Ticonderoga to retrieve the cannon there. André had been captured near Fort Saint-Jean by Continental Army troops under the command of General Richard Montgomery in November 1775.
