In Ottawa, Ontario. Just here to follow what I used to like on Twitter.
And VIA doesn't even go to Regina anymore, and hasn't for years. Or Calgary.

There are 8 daily trains Ottawa-Toronto, 5 Ottawa Montréal, 8 Montréal-Toronto, 9 Toronto-Montréal. There is only one train per 2 days going from Toronto to Winnipeg and on to Vancouver.

Forget the font, have you noticed all the letters are black! Even the punctuation! From now on the US State Department prints in white only.

The 12 still bunches up into threes, meaning instead of one bus each 15 minutes you get three buses at once every 45 minutes. Somehow this happens right near the start of the run. Strange for such an important route.

Ooo... can't wait to find out for sure!

Oh my gosh, does this mean @mishiikenhkwe.bsky.social did art for the 2026 calendar? If so, it is going to be another awesome calendar art year.

Do it. And then make it free during the day so they can get to and from school.

That's great stuff! Looks like you found a way to tap into some kind of magic!

Again? Parliament has been under construction for a couple of decades. I hope I get to see it completed. It might be turning into Canada's Sagrada Familia.

The police budget increased almost 50% from $280M in 2016 to $414M for 2026 so Tierney is misinforming readers saying "For a decade, we’ve traded safety and security for policing alternatives — experiments that have repeatedly failed, a reality now visible on our streets today." Policing is way up.

Ah Peggy, need I remind you I am a cat and I do what I like? You say it is bedtime, but that's a you problem, not a me problem. You can go on to bed. I don't care. I have a lot going on. Maybe I will lie on your head at 4:30 am or something. For warmth. Not because I care.

Wow! Lee Munn has totally mastered winter light! Perfection.

They all had brilliant futures ahead that were stolen from them, their families and their friends.

It is near maximum darkness here. How could you not feel a bit dreary? (If you are super dreary, get help!) Chipmunks have the right approach. They spend the coldest days in a state of torpor, getting up only to nip to the loo or tuck into their store of seeds and nuts. If only humans could do that!

The truth is driving too much is frustrating. Drivers will blame everything they see - other cars, road maintenance, traffic lights/signs, speed traps and cameras, pedestrians, bikes and bike lanes... Taking away the bike lanes won't do anything for traffic, but they'll be out of sight out of mind.

It would be interesting to find out how much police (and other first responders) time and budget goes into responding to car collisions. I get the impression this is their main job now? I wonder how much time and money could be saved with safer road design and better regulation of vehicle design.

I will go on record as being against those little plastic recorders! Especially the way they hit those high harmonics just at the cutoff pitch for human hearing, with the sharp attack and intensity of a firecracker... There are larger wooden tenor(?) recorders that sound pretty good to me, though.

On the minus side some babies, children and eventually even adults will die because of this, on the plus side ... nothing.

It is not clear what the savings is. Do you mean by doing maintenance immediately you save on catastrophic repairs in the long term? If that is what you mean it applies to a great deal in Ottawa. Why not get caught up on the deferred maintenance that's on the books? Delay creates loss not savings.

Your phone knows when you are speeding. Your telcom provider knows, Google, Apple, Facebook ... all know. They could ask you to slow down, but I guess that would be a buzzkill. Instead they warn you when you might get caught speeding.

Is this the last of these cases, or just about, do you think? 'Cause there's been quite a few... Or will it just keep on going on and on?

The worst part is the killing. The tendency for US media to dismiss non-US citizens as NPCs is awful. These are human beings.

Knocking down the 11 year-old $4 million dollar Moving Surfaces sculpture by Canadian artist Jill Anholt just to sweeten a real estate deal a bit is such a disappointment. Find another way, @en.ottawa.ca .

Mind you, I myself need not follow this rule. I complain about multitudes. Only people whose posts I come across have to follow this rule.
