The immediate pause in violence is a good first start, and we should then continue our demands for representation, enforcement, accountability, justice.

When “peace” mostly means more troops, more walls, or more surveillance — that’s not peace. That’s militarism with better PR.

What do we do when we see an agreement that isn’t just?

We need to embrace the good and demand more.

If a handful of governments, billionaires, or companies stand to profit — arms deals, mining rights, reconstruction contracts — you’re not looking at peace. You’re looking at rebranding for imperialism.

The “Security” Trap

Is there accountability? If severe crimes, including war crimes, were committed – does the agreement address these? Does it offer methods of accountability?

Red Flags to look out for

Follow the money

What happens when one side breaks the deal? If there’s no mechanism to hold powerful players accountable, the “agreement” is just a suggestion for the strong, and a commandment for the weak.

What to Look For
Is everyone actually at the table? If the people most affected by the violence aren’t shaping the deal, it probably won’t actually serve them.

When world leaders take victory laps for brokering “Peace agreements” and “ending conflicts” but the bombs keep falling, borders keep shifting, and people keep dying — was it ever really peace?

We demand a 10% cut in military spending, redirecting the freed resources toward tackling climate change, strengthening health systems, combating poverty, and ensuring education and social protection for all.

Meanwhile, German politicians are discussing plans to cut unemployment benefits and development aid—despite warnings that these measures will deepen poverty.

The manufacturer, Rafael, promotes the rockets as “combat-proven,” claiming they “can be used in urban combat.” We have already witnessed the devastation caused by Israeli weapons in recent months.
