This stuff is literally under construction right now or has been procured with long lead times that have extended. Why risk reliability gaps if it’s not ready at exactly July 2027?

It is good for NSW against the counter factual of eraring closing without the required replacement infrastructure complete and causing reliability gaps

Funding point is moot the money is already allocated and being spent by transgrid, energy co and the private investors building new renewables.

They have been fast tracking it though, transmission, generation, sips contract with Waratah super battery.

It’s all just taking longer than was planned and is evidently hard to execute!

All this stuff is still happening even if eraring stays on for slightly longer .

AEMO has identified reliability gaps if eraring closes in 27.

The CWO renewable energy zone and synchronous condensers needed are running behind schedule. Not to mention snowy 2.0.

A year or two extension gives time for these projects to get finished.

How is the rollout of wind & solar that has happened not derived from ‘innovation’?

The list of technical innovations that have happened for the rollout is massive. Yes policy & funding have also helped enable it but to so it wasn’t innovation as well makes no sense.

Missing the context that some of this rapid heating we’ve seen the last 2 years has been accelerated by the reduction in Sulfur emissions from shipping due to regulation changes in 2022.

The data from this shifting me well into the latter camp. Managing some level of Sulfur release seems much better than praying for multiple volcano eruptions to buy time for emissions to come down lol.

The answer here is actually enable regions to fast track the construction of transmission and new wind/solar/nukes despite it only getting a single paragraph mention in the paper.

Artificially restricting demand growth only increases uncertainty for entities trying to build more supply!

The wastewater tracking looks pretty concerning through California.
