Interesting report from BBC Newsnight on Gavin Williamson’s comms with BJ. Have to say that I find the sentence structure, syntax and punctuation of the former Education Secretary extremely poor. He would struggle to get a 4 in GCSE on this evidence never mind the A Level now demanded for migrants!
E mail from Gavin Williamson to Boris Johnson shown on BBC Newsnight released during Covid Inquiry

Israeli ‘hostages’ ….Palestinian ‘detainees’.
Framing narratives of legitimacy never takes a day off.

Delighted for those released today & for their families & friends. But the notion that the war is over is ludicrous as none of the underpinning issues that drove it have been addressed. The region is further away from a viable peace process than after the Oslo Accord in 1993 -& it wasn’t close then.

BBC News explain that because of Brexit, Brits will be photographed and have their fingerprints taken when going into the EU, as the UK now is a third country

BBC News forget to explain that the UK helped create these rules when we were part of the EU because we wanted stronger border control

Yeah thanks a bunch 🤣 one vote gained 1000s lost.
Meanwhile Irish icon Christy Moore endorses Catherine Connolly. 🙃
Not sure the HH campaign has legs.

Heather Humphreys has thanked Taoiseach and Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin for saying he would vote for her after his own candidate's unceremonious exit from the race

Humphreys thanks Micheál Martin for saying he plans to vote for her
‘I need all the votes I can get, there’s no question about that,’ Fine Gael’s Heather Humphreys said.

Not the first time that comments about a post seem better informed than the actual article itself.

There is political space to be moved into on the left -given Labour’s lurch to the right. ZP and the GP seem well equipped for that journey,

I have to say, it’s great to see Reform being called out for exactly what they are and what they do by Zak Polanski on #questiontime

As pertinent today as it was in 1954 -perhaps even more so… and not just in the US either. Great to see this clip again 🙏💪

They’re never not at it -always looking for cunning plans to undermine the GFA -they know full well that the ECHR and GFA are inextricably linked. But it suits them to forget that in pursuit of populist English nationalism.

Chris Philp on R4 yesterday making 3 false statements about the ECHR and the GFA.
1. “The ECHR is mentioned only in the Multi-Party Agreement not the UK/Ireland Agreement.”. Wrong: the latter agreement requires the UK to support the former: they can’t be pulled apart like that.

Summary here by @joshuarozenberg.bsky.social of the so far unpublished but apparently “circulating” “legal advice” by Lord Wolfson to the Tory party. open.substack.com/pub/rozenber...

My memory might be playing tricks on me but I don’t remember previous contests being quite such a shit show? With the obvs exception of Brian Lenihan snr, circa 1990.
