Tom Cotton’s endorsement today of the military shooting unarmed airstrike victims floating at sea may shed some light on the debate over what it meant when he called for troops to pacify disorder in U.S. cities in 2020

when elites want to complain about other elites, could they just leave us out of it?
Even by the standards of The Atlantic, this is an extraordinarily weak evidence base for an article.

Data from a tiny handful of schools that isn't measuring the variable at issue and a few thin, secondhand anecdotes.

The guy shot two random people with a gun, I don't think you can say he wasn't assimilating into our culture
Stephen Miller is now arguing that assimilation is fundamentally impossible and that certain cultures are not compatible with Western civilization

We just had weeks of "how can they think Bari is good at anything?" discourse, so I'm going to have to require that people flip their framing and express surprise if billionaires are impressed by someone who isn't a moron
Something that’s so striking in these emails is how…unimpressive Epstein is. He comes off as a pompous, sub-literate lech. Yes everyone is so mortifyingly solicitous of him! All fawning and flattery! Why?????

@adamserwer.bsky.social sorry to pull the random stranger question but I've completely failed with google, there's a supreme court case/doctrine about something close to "markers of discrimination" but I can't find it, do you know the right phrase? thank you!

Lauren Boebert is a simpleton so at first it surprised me she could get pressed by the president, attorney general, and head of FBI but still hold out. Then I replaced the titles with being pressed by Donald Trump, Pam Bondi, and Kash Patel, and sure she could hold out against those incompetents.

Has anybody announced a run against one of the senate quislings yet? I know it’s at least 3 years out but they would instantly have more money than the incumbent and seeing that amount might scare some of those toadies into doing their job

“Sure, some employees were really mad about bullshit firings, but now I fired them too. That ought to calm everybody down. These plebes just don’t understand how to manage a business.”
Jake Lahut, a Wired reporter who from the Nancy Mace airport story last week, was among those fired.

During the incident, CN's HR chief asked staff not to congregate outside his office. Lahut asked "what's your definition of congregating?" and was let go later on Wednesday.
