I was so afraid of the bills, I waited 9 days to get X-rays on a broken ankle, our insurance/healthcare system needs more surgery than I did…
I know someone who seems very sick but refuses to go to the hospital until her Medi-Cal approval comes thru. She cannot afford insurance. I told her they cannot turn her away, but she's too frightened of the bill if she's admitted, which she most certainly would be. Our country is so fucked up.

The word #Professional is in title of my California license. Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. I had to pass the state’s Law and Ethics Exam even though I’ve been practicing for almost 30 years. I make less in a year than they do in an hour. #LPCC
My sister is a nurse. My oldest daughter is a nurse. My wife is a lab tech. And...and one time...I was a nurse. Don't tell my family...or the hundreds of thousands of other families...that nurses...and those in the health field...aren't "professionals."

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.
