the only thing potentially contradicting this is that there are rival lines where he insinuates that he does just have a desire to win bc he finds it funner than racing itself. a complicated specimen he is, or perhaps he just wants victory as a treat. which, fair enough

this is all just hypothetical & headcanon based on the fact that big is so friendly & perhaps a bit of a people pleaser to the point that he even implies in crossworlds to certain chars that he slows down for others to give them a chance to win -

which would also explain why he doesn't tend to fight much nor likes to go on adventures much in general. such power could remind him of how dangerous he could be around others if he's not careful enough, which is why he tends to be incredibly delicate around others

it'd be nice to get a glimpse into how big actually views his strength on a personal level, smth that would give big... not necessarily a flaw but something he feels like he has to "fix" about himself to "fit in" by just not showing his strength often -

i feel like i would remember there being a line in any of the games about big feeling insecure on how his strength makes others perceive him as being unapproachable considering i've looked through most cutscenes with big almost religiously at this point throughout the years

addressing this line bc i misinterpreted this as him referring to big once but i'm fairly confident that he is actually referring to the girl who has a crush on him given that he has similar lines even in other characters' stories

i believe the only other npc that has a relatively noteworthy reaction to big's size is the burger shop guy, though he is never intimidated by big's size and merely just comments on how fat he appears to be

there are at least two npcs in sonic adventure from what i recall that are intimidated by his sheer size with big being associated with bigfoot (the fact that the npcs are also exploring a jungle means that they're likely tense since anything could come out and get them)

this may be bordering on headcanon that's barely based on anything (i don't even think big's ever canonically thought what i'm about to say abt himself) but what if big doesn't like that he's so strong since it could likely cause others to perceive him as scary/intimidating

i think it might a fear response i have from some previous friendships not turning out so well. that shit always stings bad, idk how the hell i managed to deal with it back when i was 16 but damn i wish i had the balls to just suck it up again and not be so afraid of hurt

the most frustrating feeling in the world that i've been dealing with lately is the mortifying ordeal of being known. maaan this shit fuckin sucks i did not use to be this bad at just getting close with new ppl/those i'm not as familiar with. like what am i DOING

granted, we're still early into the game's life and thus they have plenty of opportunity space out future festivals more if they listen to the playerbase's feedback. i'm hoping that what's going on atm is just the exception and not the standard for future festivals

that, coupled with the fact that they've given the playerbase little time to breathe before the next festival (which is happening tomorrow) may potentially lead to some players getting exhausted from all of the event spam going on. splatfests were more spaced out by comparison

however, the problem with festivals currently from what i'm gathering is the exact same problem that splatfests have where you're locked out of the ranked modes, which forces you to either participate in the event if you wanna play online, or just not play at all

for clarification as to what i was originally talking about, sonic crossworlds has festivals akin to splatoon's splatfests where you can unlock event exclusive rewards via playing and grinding for them. the last one we had just two days ago was one pertaining to hatsune miku

i have just really grown to hate the fear of missing out tactic that these sorts of games employ to keep people glued to these games for hours on end and is a part of why i don't really play live service games much anymore

this just made me even less inclined to purchase this game, i don't want another mario kart intermissions-esque situation here. they should really get to addressing this now before the playerbase starts dropping if they're going to be spamming festivals
