63% of unofficial champs have retained the title in their first match of the season, however it’s been a while since they’ve won the first match of a season.

the last time a defending unofficial champ won their first match of a season was Sydney FC, beating Victory 0-1 on the 7th of October 2017.

the crazy part of this, is that Sydney have held it for 600+ more days than Adelaide, (1,467 v 834)

the sky blues have held it through 5 off seasons, adelaide have only held it through 1

Of the 181 times the Unofficial A-League Men Championship has changed hands, #SydneyFC & #AdelaideUnited have held it the most, 22 times each. The Reds have held it across 88 games, narrowly edging the Sky Blues who have held it through 87 games. #ALeague

ORIGINAL CHAMPS: #AdelaideUnited & #CCM were the first Unofficial A-League Men Champions, with the first game(s) of the A-League taking place simultaneously. I decided they both held the title until one beat the other, which was 79 days later, with a 1-0 win to Adelaide. #ALeague

i assume full rollout is a bit glitchy because they added it today. i found it by doing the following steps:

Tap on Australia Cup > Fixtures > scroll and then tap South Hobart v South Melbourne game > South Melbourne > Next Match.

contacted the lovely folk at @fotmob.com regarding the #AusChampionship on their app. they’ve confirmed that before the first match it should appear. let’s go!!

An email from me to Fotmob support. The email reads:

“Hello! I am writing to you to request you add support for the new Australian second division, called the Australian Championship. You can find more details on it at https://
australianchampionship.com.au with the league starting this coming Friday. Thanks!”

A reply email from a support member at FotMob. The email reads:

“Hi, it will be available before the first matches!”

i agree, i would imagine and hope that more tests will happen as we get closer to the date, similar to the weekends they’ve taken out the tunnel lines for testing.

i just can’t see the general public caring about gaps between tunnel services when there will still be ample city loop services.

100%, i reckon we can bank the fact that there will be issues, but if services are only once every twenty minutes then hopefully it won’t impact people too much. also gives sport fans an option to test out Richmond connections.

overall i don’t mind it, a trial run over summer seems a good call

the article doesn’t seem to state it, but the press release says that the one train every twenty minutes will be an addition to the pre-existing services on these lines. definitely a risky PR move but i feel the slow integration will help those less informed realise what is happening to their line

every year the adhesive on victory membership cards sticking them to the letter from the club gets stronger and stronger. at this rate i am a few years away from having to use industrial methods to seperate some plastic from paper
