This is sideways from the direction of Talia’s thread which is why it’s a quote and not a reply but: her observation here goes along with the continuing perception that something formative “made us” this way. It’s been decreasing for other parts of the queer umbrella slowly, but less for trans folk.
There's a kind of "support" cis people will give trans people (and queer people more generally) that amounts to: "It's well and good for you people to be the way you are, but not MY kid. My kid is normal and if my kid ever the idea of being anything but normal, it's YOUR fault."

the thing about Lost is that it’s kind of a dumpster fire show with not even a shred of queerness in it. & it’s fr kinda racist. & fatphobic. but yet. it is weirdly compelling, as far as early 2000s television goes. at any rate, i’ve rewatched it enough for it to be a comfort show, i guess.
