I know it's just the character designer's more "fashion centric" preferences but to shrunk and skinni-fied most of the characters who are supposed to be rugged and strong in a hostile environment is just one of the standard anime design sterilization imo

I didn't really have any impression of the character's design work in season 1 because the studio took away most of what makes the people on the original setting feel more authentic and I sure as hell don't for stargaze now

The environment and ecosystem designs are still cool though
