You can love art & also love eating on a regular basis.
Money is a means to stability. For some art can be a hobby-others not so much. I feel we need to be clear on this class gap in the arts.

Historically a lot of fine artists were born into wealth & pursuing the arts was a sort of optional self development. They had the money & free time to pursue the arts but little at stake in the self investment. They were financially secure.
The above advice applies easily to that demographic.
